Around the South

Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of traveling.  I’m on the road about three days a week driving back and forth across Mississippi and Alabama for family obligations. To some, that might seem a bit overwhelming, but I love a good road trip, especially when I can take time to get where I’m going.

One thing that I love about all this drive time is the ability to think. I spend a lot of time in thought about the next book in the Biloxi series, Biloxi Blues. It helps when it comes time to write, because I’ve had time to think through some of the difficulties that I encounter as I’m writing.

It also gives me time to think through all of the things I need to do, how I need to get them done, and in what order they should be accomplished. It takes some of the chaos out of the normal life that I live the other four days of the week.

But there’s one more benefit to all this roaming around. I can take pictures. I was blessed with a new digital SLR camera for Christmas, and I’ve been using it a lot. Like a notebook and pen are part of my daily wardrobe, my camera bag is my newest accessory. It goes were I go. Always.

I find myself looking at everything I pass through the eyes of a photographer.  As a result, I’ve captured some amazing pictures.

I thought it might be fun to share a few of these images with you as an example of why I love living in the South.  So, enough of my chatter.  Here’s a quick look into some of the interesting things I love.  If you’d like to see more, you can always check out my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/JerriLynn

The Great Egret (Also called the Great White Heron)

Souther swamps are often caused by beaver, damming up small streams and drainage ditches.

Since even the frogs are confused about spring, there are already tadpoles forming in these frog eggs.
